Burgos. Monument to the bull (Estatua del toro)
From the Alonso de Martínez square we headed along Concordia street to Avenida del Sid Compeador.
Here, on the site of the old arena Los Vadillos, in 2011 was a monument-fountain (map) in memory of the bullfights held at this place from 1862 to 1967.
Patinated bronze sculpture weighing 900 kilograms made by Alfa Arte. The construction cost the city budget of 3.7 million euros.
The pedestal of black granite is equipped with sides that hold water, forming a mirror, which reflects the sculpture of the animal. A layer of water also protects the monument from those wishing to climb the monument. And those who are not afraid to soak the foot, can get water jet fountain, including variable intervals of time. In the dark, the jets are highlighted in different colors.
